"A big part of my identity as a dancer and as an artist is Russian. Like some of [my Russian ballet classmates] came over to take class here the other day and the teacher was giving a correction one of the boys and I was dancing the combination right after him and he looks over at me and says, 'That's a Russian plié!' And it's funny because the technique and style of Russian ballet transcended the race to be passed on to me."
